Advice for Buying Baby Clothes

Babies come in all different sizes. Two of mine only wore newborn for about a week or two and the third started in the 0-3 month size.
To start with buy cheap and plenty until you get to the 6-9 month size as they grow fast and have leaks from both ends.( at least 2 day and one night outfit per day) I would also invest in some simple T-shirts/ long sleeve T-shirts for yourself to carry with you for when they spit up.
For the baby, look for things that are soft and don’t have to be pulled over their head. Check in babies r us. You will be able to tell visually and by feel something that is good quality. They have a wide range of brands that you can compare. Osh Kosh is another good brand as well as The Children’s Place and Gymboree. Try to go for layers so that you can regulate their temperature more easily. If you have a girl dresses are great as the can be worn as a long dress and stay with them until they are just under their knees. The only time they are not a good idea is when they are crawling.Yoga pants are also good because they are stretchy and spring pants can be worn as summer capris as they grow.
Overalls are great as well as thy last about two size ranges due to the straps. These are about the only thing that old navy does well though you can find them in lots of places. My kids loved one piece soft outfits. Carter’s has them as well as Nike ( BTW Carter’s fits a little smaller that other brands) . They were also easy to whip on and off of them if they got dirty and there was no searching for matching pieces and no cold little bellies from separates. Look for things with elastic around the wrists and ankles as you can buy bigger so that they will last longer. You will also find that people like to buy the nicer outfits for baby showers so I would stick to the basics. While they are really little use the soft bibs that come with some of the outfits as they dribble milk and even a few drops can wet an outfit enough to be uncomfortable. It is easier to change a bib not t mention a lot less laundry.
I would also invest in a few plastic wipeable bibs or even those plastic aprons with sleeves they use for painting for meal time when they are a little older ( or let them eat in a diaper before bath time). I usually carry shout wipes or a tide stain pen as well. There are also some leather slipper/shoes which are good for before they start walking called Robbies. It is also good to buy socks all the same ( except for special outfits) Babies are always losing socks so if they are all the same it doesn’t matter if you lose a few. They will all still match.
